FINARCH 2025

Review: FINARCH / Financial Architecture for Banks - An inspiring exchange

FINARCH was a great opportunity for us to gain valuable insights into current trends and challenges in the industry. What will we take away?

1️⃣ Data Quality & Governance & Culture

The quality of data also determines the success of data-driven business models in the banking world. Banks and insurance companies are increasingly relying on data governance to ensure transparency, consistency and regulatory compliance. The challenge: efficiently measuring and optimizing data quality to enable reliable decisions.

For us as experts in data preparation and data quality, Sven Wilbert's presentation on the topic of DQ was also very interesting. His appeal goes in the direction of focusing DQ on critical data points. Measuring for the sake of measuring should not be the only motivation to drive DQ forward. A transparency offensive that reveals every deficiency would be the wrong approach, as not every deficiency is a problem. He also addressed the important topic of “data culture” in companies, combined with the question of what impact the actions of individuals have on the general data quality in the company. After all, preventing errors is cheaper and measuring them is immensely more expensive!

2️⃣ Data mesh & hybrid data architectures

Traditional centralized data management is reaching its limits. Data mesh relies on decentralized data responsibility and promotes the rapid provision of data products. At the same time, hybrid architectures must combine existing data warehouses with modern cloud solutions to ensure agility and scalability.

3️⃣ Regulatory reporting & ESG

With new regulations such as DORA, CSRD and iReF, the pressure on financial institutions to provide precise and transparent reports is growing. ESG reporting in particular is becoming increasingly important in order to integrate sustainability criteria into financial decisions. The focus is on automating these processes using AI and modern data architectures.

Exciting presentations, discussions, masterclasses and roundtables provided valuable input, particularly on the balance between innovation and regulatory compliance. Another major topic was the optimization of IT security in an increasingly digital banking landscape. In addition to the expert discussions, the event provided a perfect platform for networking - we were able to make valuable new contacts and take away exciting ideas.

We look forward to incorporating the knowledge gained into projects and are already looking forward to the exchange in 2026.
